I hadn't had much time to sit down and parse Harold Ford Jr's Imus comments until just a few hours ago. After my initial read I more or less agreed with The Christian Progressive Liberal that Junior was redeemed. On second thought, I think he sounds like a Southern white racist campaigning in Coon Town. Lets look, shall we?

It was her home going celebration. In the African American community in particular we look at funerals in a lot of ways as a celebration of ones life and we call it a home going celebration. Everyone does it at funerals but we specifically call it that. There may have been some comments that were a bit out of line but overall Mrs. King's life, you can't divorce, I think President Clinton said it well, you can't divorce the fact that this woman lived a life and her life was devoted to certain things and her life was dedicated to achieving social justice through nonviolence. Whether you agreed with that or not you couldn't come to that funeral and ignore that...I can appreciate some people thinking that it was a bit overboard at times but I simply fought back on the fact that you can't divorce from a funeral how a person lived and what a person dedicated his or her life to. In this instance the first lady of the civil rights movement and I think she would have just about agreed on all that was said at that funeral... about the issues that is."

First of all, WHO THE FUCK IS HAROLD FORD JR., PISSANT, TO DETERMINE WHAT COMMENTS ARE OUT OF LINE AT CORETTA SCOTT KING'S FUNERAL? What kind of a pompus fuck does that makes him? I mean think about it: this was a funeral-- A FUNERAL. Is Junior family? Was he a close personal friend of Coretta's? Was anything said that wasn't both true, and in keeping with the spirit of yhe Kings' legacy? What fucking gall. Sorry CPL, I know a moontan like myself has no place telling African Americans what should and shouldn't be offensive, but THIS is pretty freaking offensive.

He can "APPRECIATE" people who think it went "overboard?" This is country club code.

You don't "appreciate" holocost deniers, you don't "appreciate" liars, racists, or pigs. You don't "appreciate" it when people who want to undermine the legacy of the New Deal and the Civil Rights movement tell the family of a civil rights hero how to conduct their mother's funeral. This was a real chance for the little prince to show some backbone, and he blew it.
