The occasional reminder that there is no "Center"

Once in a while it's important to remind the well intentioned post-partisans blathering on and on about unity that, unfortunately, they are completely full of shit.

There is no president for the pro-choice voter AND the pro-life voter.
There is no president for the pro-torture voter and the anti-torture voter.
There is no president for the gays and lesbians and for the gay and lesbian bashers.
There is no president for African Americans and the Klan.
There is no president for Mexican immigrants and The Minutemen
There is no president for teachers who wish to promote Creationism as a fact in schools and teachers who believe in Evolution.
There is no president for bending the constitution to fit God's rules and for maintaining a strict separation of church and state.
There is no President for patients rights and tort reform.
There is no president for corporate welfare and general welfare.
And the list goes on into infinity touching on everything under the big, bright Sun.

People bitterly disagree about how the world should turn and they always will. So as we continue to slouch toward Super Tuesday let's try to determine who has the best solutions to actual problems as well as the will or the intelligence to bring those solutions about.

The only person who can bring this country together, even for a moment, is the person who can keep it from falling apart.

UPDATE: I should point out that I don't know who that candidate is or isn't. Unlike some, I see value in each of the top three candidates--- as candidates. But I've long been of the opinion that our best candidates are not always the best leaders and vice versa.
